Considering the timing of this meme, it's definitely doing to clash with NaNo, but I like the questions!

1. Tell us about your favorite writing project/universe that you've worked with and why.
I've got two:
a) Nejiverse (circa 2001)
Neji (for those who don't know) is about the antichrist and all the people who are either out to encourage him, stop him, or just generally screw him over in various ways. The twist is Neji doesn't have mystical powers of awesome or a sleeping demon sealed inside him nor is he the illegitimate child of Satan and a firefly or anything - he's the antichrist due to his knack of causing untold collateral damage just by leaning on a lamppost (chain of events effect). He's a bit neurotic due to his environment, and all these extra weird people entering his life doesn't make it any better.
When I first started the idea there was Neji, these two otherworldly agents assigned to make sure he doesn't damage everything, a group of 5 terrorists who want to be #1 by using him, and a crazy childhood oneesan who uses a railgun to fend off evil. The plot parodied everything I could think of, and one of my favourites has the Pope bringing in his secret army to find Neji due to subtitle mistranslation (the Pope just wanted to meet and confirm the existence of an antichrist; the subtitles said he wanted to BUST OUT THE CHOPPAS AND BLOW UP THE ANTICHRIST. PREEMPTIVE STRIKE FTW).
Then Neji's universe expanded and it got sillier.
There's at least 20 characters who've been in and out of the story, the logical reasoning behind the existence of an antichrist, and the world has *already* ended once. The world is large enough that I can add anything at any given time and it'll fit anywhere. Even if I can't think of anything ridiculous for Neji somebody else can take over - currently the terrorists are getting screen time (one minor character has an entire OTHER universe he's connected to). If the Neji series was an anime, people could describe it as "Excel Saga + Zetsubou Sensei + Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt with a hint of Naked Gun" and it wouldn't be enough.
Why do I like it? Each time I think up a full episode, I laugh. A lot. Anything that makes me happy is a good thing.
b) Finneganverse (Circa 2007)
Finnegan is a god ruling a world in a place full of gods where they rule all the worlds in the entire universe who are then ruled by Allegra, THE God. Is Neji's world in there? Yes. Do we see his god? No. Why? There's another series for that. >_>;;
Finnegan is a guy who's gotten the short end of the stick many many times - despite the amount of effort he puts in his work, he's underappreciated and disliked due to questionable origin. Still he perseveres and keeps climbing his way to the top but unlike other protagonists in that situation, he acts the way we might - be mean to them too! At least he's not whining about it! The problem is karma is a bitch, and she enjoys yanking Finnegan around. ^^;
Finnegan's world is for the stuff I can't put into Neji's world - I designed Finnegan to be more of a JRPG game series, so Finnegan's plot mostly involves Finnegan walking through RPG cliches, KNOWING what he's getting into but gets into them anyway because it's easier than listening to ANOTHER 30-minute cutscene for the umpteenth time. 'Sides, he's a god. What can go wrong? If people were to describe Finnegan's story, it'd be like "Bard's Tale and Actraiser/Dark Cloud" or something except that there are serious bits of CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT omg.
When I first thought up the story Allegra was the original protagonist, but ideas ran out really quick and I thought well that's that; Finnegan being bottom-rung has much more development potential and I get to go crazy imagining nifty RPG outfits for him and his merry party, something I enjoy. This could only be better if I could design BUILDINGS. *__*
