At the bank, I asked a nice Malay chap what was a "post-dated cheque" since there was a sign on the cheque deposit machine that said "don't submit post-dated cheques", and this was his (translated) reply:

It means don't mail your cheques to the bank from the post office. Cuz you know, it takes like 3-4 days to process it...so the bank, like, puts up this cheque deposit machine here for you. It's a LOT faster than mailing it, yanno.

My parents are still laughing.
